The Robertsons |

The Robertson family, based in Alsask, Saskatchewan with the appropriately named farm, Saskalta Angus, has for years maintained Black cattle. Following a good wheat crop in 1948, Florence Robertson (Kim's mother) convinced her husband Tom to purchase two purebred black heifers for her birthday. Until his passing in 1986, Tom Robertson continued to develop Black Angus cattle which he eventually passed to Kim's care. From there Kim has since expanded the cowherd, which now tops 400 high-performance purebred Black Angus cows. Like the Dillabaugh's, the Robertson's had pursued a consistent cowherd, based on solid conformation, fertility and the ability to keep easy during the long and harsh winters of western Saskatchewan. Eventually, the two Black Angus breeders met and had a chance to look at each other's herds. They saw the same style of Black Angus, and realized they were pursuing the same market. |
