The feedlots have to take the cattle you produce and feed them. All the feedlot does is take your cattle, buy feed, grow and fatten the cattle with hopes that the packing house will bid high enough for them to make a profit.
In the past the Cattle Industry has produced cattle that do not meet the consumer demands, they have turned to other meat sources losing "Beef Market Share".
The green light is on from the consumer. They will pay more for the beef because they want to eat more "Branded Beef Products".
Demands for Branded Beef today out strip supply. Too many people in the Cattle Industry are still trying to re-invent the wheel, causing lots of undesirable carcasses to show up in the beef chain. Let's focus on what the consumer wants!
The feedlot can not change the genetics of your cattle to fit into the Branded Beef products, so give them the cattle to feed that the consumer desires. Then, we all will have a much more buoyant beef industry.
