The cow herds have been developed in West Central Saskatchewan. Although the cows are genetically linked, there are distinct cow families in the 1600 cow breeding program. The cow herd has to be strong, feminine and of the right size to produce a calf with a desirable carcass weight, that will fit into a branded beef program that the consumer is asking for.
ANNIE Ks
Annie Ks of Double AA were developed from 22 cows bought from Borris Balanoff. These cows all originated from one cow, Woodlawn Ida (registration #28507). Today there is over 350 line bred Annie K cows in the breeding program.

These cows are linked back to the Balonoff herd that also goes back to Woodlawn Ida.
12U BANDOLIER DAUGHTERS
The 12U Bandolier daughters are a lineage all their own. These are the cows that produce the sires on the ranches, that in turn, produce the calves that top the markets.
Rancher's Choice not only has cow families that are tried and true, but bull lines that have stood the test of time. Rancher's Choice does not breed to fad bulls or what is popular today, we breed cattle that are functional and that top the beef markets. Our cattle do not need to be cross bred. They will top any part of the beef industry from calf prices, replacement heifers to cull cow prices. They will convert feed and hang up with a higher percent of desirable consumer driven beef.
